Why RVs and Buses Need Specialized Towing

Motorhomes and buses are heavy, long and built differently from trucks:

Our heavy towing operators have experience with all brands of large RVs and approach each coach with those details in mind.

RV Trouble Spots in Northern Colorado

Northern Colorado is a gateway to the mountains, and RV traffic follows the scenic routes:

US-34 through Big Thompson Canyon to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. The canyon is narrow and winding, with few pullouts long enough for a motorhome. Overheated engines and brakes on the climb and descent are common.

SH-14 through Poudre Canyon, a popular route for campers heading to the campgrounds along the river and over Cameron Pass. Services are few and far between.

US-287 north toward Laramie and the Wyoming line, where crosswinds catch high-profile vehicles.

Horsetooth Reservoir, Carter Lake and Boyd Lake, where motorhomes and trailers run steep, crowded campground roads.

I-25, the main route for RVers passing through the Front Range on the way north or south.

When Your RV Breaks Down

  1. Get as far off the road as possible. In a canyon, look for the widest pullout you can reach safely.
  2. Turn on hazards and put out triangles if you have them.
  3. Get passengers and pets to safety, away from traffic. Do not stand behind the coach.
  4. Call 970-482-0159 or share your location from Send Location. Cell service in the canyons is spotty, so send it when you have a signal.
  5. Tell dispatch the make, model, length, gas or diesel, and whether you are towing a car behind.

If you are pulling a toad, we can handle both: the motorhome and the vehicle behind it.

Bus Towing for Operators and Fleets

When a coach or transit bus breaks down, the priority is getting passengers safely off the road and onto a replacement. Our job is getting the disabled bus out of the way and to your shop or depot. We tow city buses, coach buses and small buses throughout Larimer and Weld counties, and we work with fleet managers and operators any time of day. Commercial customers can find our credit application on the contact page. For other commercial vehicles, see medium-duty towing and police and fleet towing.

Getting Your RV to the Right Shop

Not every repair shop can work on a 40-foot diesel pusher. Before you choose a destination, call the shop and confirm they handle your type of coach and have room for it. If the repair will take a while, ask the shop about on-site storage. If your RV dealer or a specialty shop is farther away, we also provide long-distance RV and motorhome towing. See long-distance towing.

Moving RVs In and Out of Storage

Not every RV call is a breakdown. Northern Colorado’s camping season is short, and a lot of motorhomes and trailers spend November through April in storage lots around Fort Collins, Wellington and Greeley. A coach with dead batteries, flat tires or a mechanical problem after sitting all winter may need a tow to the shop before the first trip of spring. We can schedule those moves ahead of time so your RV is ready when the campgrounds open. The same goes for fall, when you want a coach moved to storage or to a shop for winter repairs.

Off-Road and Campground Recovery

RVs get stuck as well as broken. Rain-soaked campground roads, soft shoulders and a misjudged turnaround can leave a motorhome or fifth wheel mired or hung up. Our heavy wreckers can winch out and recover large RVs. See winch-out service and off-road recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you tow a diesel pusher motorhome?

Yes. Our heavy towing operators tow large Class A diesel pushers, with attention to the driveline, air system and rear overhang.

Will towing damage my RV’s bumper or skirting?

We know how delicate RV and bus bumpers and skirting can be and take great care to protect them during hookup and transport.

Can you tow my motorhome and the car I am pulling?

Yes. Let dispatch know you have a toad so we can plan for both vehicles.

Do you tow fifth-wheel and travel trailers?

Yes. We tow fifth-wheel trailers, travel trailers and toy haulers.

Can you reach me in Big Thompson or Poudre Canyon?

Yes. We cover the canyon routes, but narrow roads and limited pullouts can slow the response. Dispatch will give you an honest time estimate.
